Be True To Yourself
Full Name; Shou Kenjiro [last, first name]
Nickname(s); Shou | Kenji | Ken
Gender; Male
Age; 18
Face Claim; Tomohisa Yamashita
Your Past Is Catching Up With You
Personality;
Shou isn't very motivated. He spent most of his time playing video games and scarfing down slices of greasy pizza, which his parents strongly disliked. He prefers to avoid conflict at any and every turn--he's passive. When he does get into a conflict, he always wins, due mostly to his amazing patience and intelligence. If his patience and intelligence won't get him out of the conflict and he's truly backed into a corner, he has a mean uppercut.
He has a good sense of humor, but he doesn't usually smile or laugh a lot. He prefers to spend his time alone or with some electronic device (cell phone, computer, television). Before he was institutionalized, Shou got most of his socializing done while in the realms of some RPG or via text message. He's a techy kind of guy and technology makes him happiest.
Shou didn't get good grades in high school, but it wasn't because he lacked the intelligence; school was too easy for him. When he's bored, he tends to shut down. The same thing pops up whenever he gets involved with someone else. He basically just exists.
Willowcreek doesn't really alter Shou's personality all that much. He was lazy, quiet, and passive before; he is lazy, quiet, passive, and a bit grumpy now. The lack of technology is the cause for his grumpiness. He also doesn't care much for crowds or physical contact of any sort. It's plain uncomfortable.
Appearance;
Shou is very defensive when it comes to his Asian heritage. He has such fair skin and soft features that he was picked on a lot as a kid. Even at eighteen, he still gets jibes for looking more feminine than any man should. His sense of style doesn't help matters much either. He actually takes time to dress himself instead of being the stereotypical male. He won't be caught in wrinkled or ripped attire. He claims that he is not "emo," after all.
Although he has an androgynous appearance, Shou does have muscle definition. He isn't a stick figure by any means. He could gain a few more pounds, since he is in the lower margin of his height-weight index, but it's fine. His shorter stature (he is only 5'6") could be to blame for his weight problems. Besides, his mother couldn't cook to save her life.
Soft hands and feet, along with his clean-cut hair and clean-shaven face may lead others to believe he's a homosexual. Shou will not discuss his sexual preference, since he doesn't really care. It's his quiet, reserved personality.
History;
From a young age, Shou displayed a knack for logic and a love of all things artistic. He took piano lessons and mastered the beauty that is calligraphy, making both his mother and father extremely proud. Before the Individuality Reform, no one seemed to truly care about his androgynous appearance or how he held himself. He enjoyed the bond he had with his parents and they loved their only son.Presumed Diagnosis; Major Depressive || Anorexia
When things began to change, Shou's father was one of the first in line for the wonder drug that fueled the Individuality Reform. Shou lost his father to the "veil" of perfection the drug created and began to distance himself from the man. When his mother received the mandatory shot, the last part of the old Shou died. He no longer cared about the arts or his love of logic. He didn't pay attention in school or at home. Everyday, he would get up and glue himself to some form of technology, trying to block out the horrible world around him.
One day, Shou was called into the school nurse to receive his own shot, the introduction to man-made perfection. He fought as much as he could, defying his new-found passive ways in an attempt to keep whatever freedom he could. Eventually, Shou was held down by his principal and a group of his peers. For some reason, he didn't feel any different. He didn't act out of character.
His parents demanded he be given more of the medication, so Shou was subjected to three more shots of the miracle liquid. The medication had him vomiting for three hours before the doctors finally relented and cleared his system of the chemicals. When his parents were asked if they wanted to take their child home, they declined (as expected). Shou had to watch his parents walk right out of his life, leaving him to the world of Willowcreek.
All of his personal belongings were left behind. No cell phone, no laptop, no game system--he had nothing. What made the transition even worse was the staff at the asylum. His assigned doctor had one session with him and diagnosed him a major depressive with an underlying eating disorder. Shou didn't even bother arguing. No one heard him; no one listened. The atmosphere only encouraged his passivity.
