And How Does That Make You Feel?[/u][/size]
Personality Considering she is a twin, it’s interesting how polar opposite she is from her brother.
Dessa can be a ball of restless energy. She is constantly having some amount of anxiety, which varies depending on the situation at hand. She is more comfortable in a setting of smaller groups, large groups make her exceedingly nervous, even having to take an anxiety medicine before getting on stage. She loves to spend time people watching, as people fascinate her.
When her anxiety is at its worst she will recluse to her room or try to avoid contact with people as much as possible. She has bouts of crying, due to the anxiety on-top of what she now knows is Bipolar Disorder. She can be happy, excitable, motivated, energetic, and believes she’s invincible, a super hero in her own right.
But, the days that the depression hits she is content to spend time brooding over a good book or sleeping. During those times she is most like her brother. Most unpredictable. She can be crying hysterically then so angry she says things she doesn’t mean. She will spend time curled up, a morose expression on her face, and nothing can get her out of her ‘blues’ except her burlesque routines.
She’s a very limber and active person when not depressed. She’s been practicing contortionism since age 13, and has been a burlesque dancer since sixteen, though legally not supposed to work the clubs till 18. Burlesque was her life before this place. Before being admitted, she was the star of the local burlesque lounge ‘The Barking Legs Theater’. She loved doing what she did and longs for the days being propped up on the stage, her voice commanding crowds.
She is a very loyal person, despite her mood. She has a difficult time making friends, but when she does she’d die for them. She’s very close to her brother, despite his mental illness and violent eruptions. She was also close to her mother. She would do anything for those she loves, and regularly does.
Appearance Though Alix may think he’s beautiful, Dessa actually is. She has a very interesting beauty. One look at her would remind someone of a 20’s pin-up girl. She is delicate but powerful all at once.
She stands at 5’5”, on the shorter side but still quite average. She weighs about 120lbs, with a very tiny waist she has corseted over the years. She’s built very long limbed and petite but still with curves. She does resemble her brother very much so, especially with the same facial shape.
She even has the same mis-matched eyes as her brother, though she is not quite as proud and would often wear contacts during performances, though that’s not an option here so she is forced to stick with the natural colors. She always rims them in black cat-eye winged eyeliner typically with minimal eyeshadow or other makeup than a pair of bright red lips.
She loves the pin-up girl look. Regularly seen in pin-up style but tight fitting dresses or a 50’s style top corseted with a pair of jeans. She loves heels, especially platforms, and is rarely seen in anything else unless barefoot. Her burlesque outfits are also kept in her wardrobe in her private room. Every type of corset and panty set, old Marilyn Monroe type dresses, or some of the nautical or military type outfits worn by pin-up girls. She also has a few outfits made for contortionism. Her favorite outfit is a black tight mini dress with black polka dots and a low cut neck paired with bright red heels and her burlesque makeup. Though she will dress down. She has over 30 some-odd tees with various burlesque or pin-up references, typically paired with tight hip huggers and heels.
Her hair is kept in one of two ways. Either waved in the 20’s pin-up style, or with the front curled up like a 50’s pin up girl, the rest flat ironed long. Her hair hits below the shoulders, and is always a soft and silky black color. Sometimes she’ll wear it up in a pony-tail, but her bangs are always rolled to pin-up perfection.
History
Odessa Rose Faust was born in Germany to two wealthy parents. His mother, Gabrielle Bijou De Moreau-Faust is the daughter of wealthy French socialites and millionaires. His father Maximilian Faust is a very wealthy (speculated in the millions) business man (no one seems to know his business though..) and bio-scientist. To her, the money was never an influencing factor since she was content with just family.
She lived in Germany until she was six years old, when her family uprooted and moved to Paris, France. While she never learned German like her twin brother Alixandre, Odessa is fluent in French. She grew up as an average student with an excel in the arts department and science. She grew up not quite as comfortable with the upper-class private schools and many events her parents forced her through.
Right before her first year of middle school her parents moved to the US to a city outside of DC when a job with the government there came for her dad. He began to spend less time around the house, which irritated her brother so badly he began severely lashing out. After six months in the US her parents suddenly announced they were divorcing, leaving Odessa and her twin brother to live with their mother. She hasn’t seen her father since. This is around the same time she picked up contortionism, though didn’t truly work with it till age 13.
Her brother lost it after the divorce, exhibiting symptoms of paranoia and interacting with things that weren’t there. At thirteen their mother took Alix to a psychiatrist, who diagnosed him with schizophrenia. As well, she was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. The psychiatrist medicated Alix, but not Odessa. The schizophrenia never got any better, and she got used the violent outbursts by her brother at school.
One afternoon Odessa witnessed her brother attack a fellow student with a pocket knife. She became increasingly more anxious, and after smoothing things over their mother moved them to Portland, Oregon.
At age 16, friend who’s mom owned the local burlesque lounge introduced Dessa to her lifelong love. After watching a performance one night she knew it was her destiny to be a burlesque dancer. The sensuality paired with the fun but mysterious atmosphere propelled her to beg for a job. She was given an ‘internship’ where she practiced and would take over for girls who were sick or injured. Soon she became the star of the show and once Monroe (the senior dancer of the troupe) retired, Dessa became ‘Eden’ and became famous.
But sadly, her brother was soon sent back to the psychiatrist who diagnosed him with antisocial personality disorder. She still remained close to him, being his confidante and friend even at his worst moments. His writing began to get published, gathering media attention that Odessa didn’t want.
Finally when the Individuality Reform passed Alix was carted away to Willowcreek, with Odessa (more for her looks and mannerisms than mental health) in tow. Recently they’ve been admitted, and now the future seems bleak. She was recently diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder which explained the occasional mood swings of her youth.
